Artist's Biography
Canadian First Nations Aboriginal Artist, Cindy Campbell Darroch, travelled extensively with her family as a child. Moving from Manitoba, the North West Territories and the Yukon, British Columbia, Ontario, New Zealand, Fiji and Australia, she experienced many different cultures and their artistic expressions.
After graduating from Design School in Kingston, Ontario she returned to New Zealand where she met her husband of 16 years, Scott Darroch. They now live with their two sons on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
While on an extended visit to New Zealand, Cindy worked for a designer glass manufacturer. The products were so appealing that Cindy and Scott decided to come back to Vancouver Island and start their own aboriginal art glass business using Cindy's Canadian designs.
Cindy's graphic designs are inspired by the natural and aboriginal art forms of the places she has lived. The bead work of the Manitoba Cree, the Pow Wow outfits of the Ojibway, the Soap Stone of the Inuit, the Haida Totems, the Maori Ceremonial Carvings and the Australian Rock Paintings have all influenced her artistic development.
Aboriginal designs for the glassware continue to evolve with each new experience and Cindy and Scott look forward to sharing them with you. The natural beauty of central Vancouver Island where they now live provides additional inspiration.
